During this challenging time of the COVID-19 pandemic, we are often reminded of the ways to keep ourselves safe when we have to leave our homes. But something less discussed and possibly even more important to the health of our families is the caution we take in our own homes. We could bring bacteria back into our homes after trips, so to ensure we can remain comfortable in your own home, make sure to clean and disinfect the following after each trip out the house.

The most important is your hands. Frequent hand washing is the best way to prevent coronavirus among many other diseases. It’s important to use soap and to rub your hands for 20 seconds. Other items to clean carefully when you get home are your cell phone and credit cards. You can easily transfer germs from your hands to your phone, which would then transfer easily to your face when you take a call, or back to your hands after you have washed them. When we first arrive home, the first thing we touch is often the door handles and light switches, so make sure to disinfect or clean these after walking in to avoid accidentally transferring bacteria when using them later.
