Spaghetti dinner in the lounge or gesturing with your wine in a lively conversation. We’ve all had one of those unfortunate moments in life where we’ve stained our furniture. Most know that the sooner you attend to a stain, the less likely it will stay. But whether you clean it immediately or only get to it later, it’s still important to know what to treat each different stain with.
The first thing to try is almost always water. But if the stain is more stubborn, you can try either vinegar or vodka. Both will break apart and loosen the stain particles, and once dry, neither will leave a smell. Using the water first, try blotting or dabbing the stain gently. Do not rub the stain! That will only stretch and weaken the fabric or spread the stain. As the stain softens, you can press slightly hard, simply pressing and lifting to remove the stain as it loosens. If the water fails to lift the stain, try the same process with the vinegar or vodka. Hopefully, these simple solutions will lift your stain without the need for fabric-damaging cleaning solutions.
