Anyone who has moved house will agree that it is one of the most stressful tasks to take on. When we are under a lot of stress, things may not go as smoothly as we would like them to. So, what can we do to reduce the stress of moving house?
One important way to lower stress levels on ‘moving day’ is to plan ahead. If we have a lot of possessions, it may seem like sorting through them is a monumental task. But, taking a small pile of things every day and going through them will help the job seem less daunting. You could sort your items into three piles. One pile could be for items you will take to the new house, one for items you wish to donate, and another pile for a yard sale. Another advantage to doing this well ahead of the move is that you dispose of unwanted items in an environmentally conscious way. Plus, you only take the things you really want to the new house, making unpacking easy.
